Being comfortable with who you are

As you start showing yout goth side more and more, you may start having the problem of feeling some Resistance from the general public, or from your friends and family, at your look.

Of course, there is always more to this than looks. There is also the kind of personality you have, which might not gel well with everyone.

The answer to dealing with this, other, is not to change who you are. After all, really the only requirement to be goth is to simply be who you are. No, instead, the answer is to start thinking confidently.

Start looking people in the eyes during life

One of the fastest ways to improve your self-confidence throughout all aspects of life is to start looking at people in the eyes.

Seriously.

You will find that forcing yourself to look into everyone’s eyes, even if only for a few seconds, will help you feel comfortable both looking at people, and being looked at.

A good tip to help you out with this is to think every time you meet someone “What color eyes does this person have.” This will cause you to go looking at their eyes. Bonus points if you think about this multiple times in a conversation to make sure that you’ve got the right one. Even more bonus points if you do this during multiple meetings of the same person because they use different color contacts.

Train to smile more – With Lipbalm

No matter wherever you identify as a guy or a girl, a small tube of lipbalm is something you can use during day to day life.

Now, do you know that smiling helps to create warm responses to you? Part of this slowly becomes a self-feed back loop. The more warmly people respond to you, the more likely it is that you will feel self-confident.

So, how is this connected to Lip balm? Well, simply, any time you remember to put on lip balm, also pair it with the memory that you should smile. That is, make a conscious effort every time you apply the balm to smile, and to keep that smile up.

Start working out a bit more

No matter who you are, or what your ideal body-shape is, adding a small bit of physical exercise to your daily routine can do wonders for your self-confidence levels.

The way this works is two fold. The first is that if your exercise is with the goal of strengthening or training your body to be the way you want it to be, then having this level of control over your own appearance (without having to use any unnatural products) can give you an immense feeling of satisfaction and power over your own skin.

The second works even if you only do some cardio without the goal of shaping the way you look. By working out often and hopefully early during the day, you help power up your brain to take on challenges and produce endorphins, the happy chemicals, that will make you brighter, happier, more approachable, and help to solve any self-confidence issues by ensuring that people have a positive attitude to you.
